Bookkeeping FAQs for Small Business Owners
Navigating the world of bookkeeping can feel overwhelming. These FAQs are here to bring a little calm to the chaos.
General Services
What exactly does a bookkeeper do?
We handle the day-to-day of your finances—recording transactions, reconciling bank statements, and keeping your records accurate and up to date. Think of us as your financial navigators.
Do I need a bookkeeper if I already have an accountant?
Yes. Accountants usually focus on high-level tax strategy and year-end filings. We keep everything running smoothly all year long so that when tax season arrives, your accountant has a clean, ready-to-go map of your year.
What software do you use?
We specialize in QuickBooks Online so your data is secure, cloud-based, and easy to access from anywhere.
Working Together
How do I get my documents to you?
No more shoe boxes of receipts. We use secure digital tools where you can snap a photo or upload a PDF so everything stays organized and paperless.
Will I still have control over my bank accounts?
Absolutely. We typically request read-only access to view your statements. We never have the authority to move money or make withdrawals.
How often will we communicate?
At a minimum, you’ll receive monthly financial reports. We’re also available for check-ins to walk through your numbers and answer questions about your cash flow and business health.
Pricing & Onboarding
How much do your services cost?
We don’t believe in one-size-fits-all pricing. Our fees are based on your transaction volume and the complexity of your business. Most clients are on a fixed monthly package so there are no surprise hourly bills.
My books are a mess. Can you help me catch up?
Don’t sweat it—it happens. We offer cleanup and catchup services to bring past months (or even years) up to date before you move into a regular monthly rhythm.
How long does it take to get started?
Once we review your needs and agree on a plan, onboarding usually takes 1–2 weeks. That includes securely connecting your accounts, setting up your bookkeeping system, and cleaning up any small backlog so we can start fresh.
Do you require a long-term contract?
No long-term contract is required. Most clients work with us on an ongoing monthly basis, but you can adjust or pause services as your business changes.
We handle the paperwork so you can get back to the sunny side of running your business. If you don’t see your question here, just reach out—I’m happy to help.
